Fruitridge Health and Wellness Collective carries a wide variety of concentrates for our patients. Many people are unfamiliar with concentrates, they are, as their name suggests, a concentrated dose of medical marijuana including hashish, kief, tinctures, oils, cannabutter, THC pills, and many other similar products.

What is Kief?

Kief or keef (from Arabic: كيف kayf, meaning well-being or pleasure[1]) refers to the loose, dried resin glands (or trichomes) of cannabis which may accumulate on containers, in grinders, or be removed from loose dry cannabis buds by grinding by hand against a mesh-#30 kiefing screen orsieve. Kief contains a much higher concentration of desired psychoactive ingredients, primarily THC, than ordinary preparations of cannabis buds from which it is derived. Traditionally kief has been pressed and baked into cakes as hashish, but can be vaporized or “toked” in powder form.

The term originates from the Egyptian dialect of Arabic, where the word can be translated as “being buzzed” or “liking to get high”.

What are Tinctures?

A tincture is a substance such as cannabis stored in a solvent liquid mixture (Ours are in Agave Nectar). It is a very effective way to use medical cannabis. Drops of the tincture are placed under the tongue and the medication passes through the blood vessels and enters the bloodstream. You will feel the onset of effects in about 5 – 15 minutes with the peak effect at about 30 minutes after taking the medication. For many patients, the effects are similar to inhaled cannabis.
